You will now see a list of accounts the document is shared with (including your own email address). If this happens, right click on the file again and choose the 'Share' option. The Share window may close after the document has been shared. When you are finished, click on the 'Submit' button.

Once a valid email address is added, the window will change to allow you to change the permission level of the recipient (editor, commenter or viewer), notify the person that the file has been shared with them and possibility to include a message. Simply enter their email address in the “Add people and groups” text box. If you haven't shared the file with anyone yet, you can add someone from the “Share” settings window that appears.
